About The Event

Spotlight Speaker - Find out about one of our regular members in a little more detail

Guest Speaker - Mark Marsland, Inspirational Speaker

Mark Marsland was born in Lincoln in 1965.

He qualified in 1988 as the UK’s youngest practicing hypnotherapist, running a practice from Lincoln for 18 months before winding it down to pursue the opportunity to play American Football at collegiate level in America. He spent 6 months at A&T University playing for the Aggies an all-black Uni with himself and his 4 UK teammates being the only white boys on campus.

On his return to the UK Mark then went into retail and started his own fishing tackle shop a hobby and passion he had enjoyed since he was six years old.

Mark set up with The Princes Youth Foundation and over a period of 20 years went on to win many local, regional and national business awards, taking forty pounds and a pasting table on Torksey car boot and turning that into a 1 million a year turnover business with 12 employees within 6 years.

Mark won the Lincolnshire Echo and BBC Radio Business of The Year in 2001 with Castaway Tackle.

He was asked to take part in The Millionaire Mindset Program featuring some of the UK’s top entrepreneurs and sharing their unique mindsets, knowledge and approaches to being successful to help inspire other budding entrepreneurs to do the same.

The break up of a 20-year relationship led to mark leaving that business and finding himself in a dark place he had never felt or been to before.

On 16th August 2001 Mark tried to take his own life in an attempt to escape the emptiness he felt inside himself at that time.

His journey back from that place formed the basis of his first book ‘Dying to Be Happy – Embracing Death Finding Life, which has gone on to help many people overcome anxiety and depression.

Mark requalified as a Hypnotherapist again in 2012 something he never stopped practicing and kept an interest in since first qualifying in 1988. He also became a Life Coach adding many tools to his tool box since then and has dedicated his life to helping and inspiring others, suffering with anxiety and depression.

Mark says people mistakenly think of him as a suicide survivor, when in fact he’s a suicide warrior, smashing and destroying those two emotional bullies wherever he finds them.

Mark’s system he calls ‘Glowing and Growing’ has helped hundreds of people crush those two emotional parasites and take back control of their lives again. A system Mark says sets you up every day, emotionally calm, physically charged and mentally sharp and ready for whatever surprises that day or life may throw at you.

Mark has one Son Connor born in 1993 and a professional Golfer and lives with his partner Rief in a place they call The Haven, a beautiful woodland paradise set in its own grounds they are lovingly restoring together. He intends to do some life changing work with others there.
