We are really excited to introduce you to our New Area Partner Barbs Mehew from Revamp & Revive You & GROOVE Lincolnshire & Peterborough
Where do you live?
What do you do?
Provide Solutions for Positive Mental & Physical Wellbeing.
I am a MHFA England Licensed Trainer for Mental Health First Aid. Delivering licensed courses to corporate, community & Individuals.
A GROOVE Facilitator - GROOVE is a super simple dance movement class that is accessible to all and is amazing for positive mental & physical wellbeing.
A Reiki Therapist & Ocean Spa Treatment Therapy.
How does that benefit your clients?
All the services I offer enhance the individuals mental & physical wellbeing and increase their knowledge and understanding of how mental ill health can affect themselves and others.
What led you to this career path?
I have over 25 years management experience predominantly in Human Resources. Supporting employees with various levels of mental and physical wellbeing.
In addition to this my own personal journey of having been diagnosed with ME Myalgic Encephalomyelitis at the age of 25 years and now going through the trials and tribulations with Mother Nature, has led me to investigate further into a more holistic approach to health and wellbeing.
Looking at holistic therapies and the want to know more about mental health and the affects it has on not only myself but others and those around them led me down the route to become a Health & Wellbeing Practitioner, MHFA Mental Health First Aider and now a MHFA England Licensed Trainer.
Getting to the stage where Mother Nature thought she would get involved in my wellbeing and bring on the signs and symptoms of the dreaded “menopause” I started looking for something to support my overall wellbeing. Not being a gym bunny I wanted something different, something that I would enjoy rather than find as a chore. I love to meditate and use aromatherapy, Himalayan Salt Lamps and crystal healing.
Whilst waiting for the GP to believe my symptoms!! I came across a lady called Misty Tripoli. Misty was a top fitness instructor in America who struggled for many years with her own health and wellbeing, even though she flew all over the world and trained others. Misty struggled with Bulimia. She struggled with her body image. She wanted a holistic approach to health & Wellbeing and that’s how she founded the Magic that is GROOVE. I waited for a couple of years for the training course to come to the UK, and when it did, I jumped at the chance to become a Licensed GROOVE Facilitator.
My positive experience with Reiki and how it has supported my health and wellbeing over the last 30 years triggered the thought that I wanted to be able to support others by training to be a Reiki Therapist. I now offer Ocean Spa Therapy in addition to Reiki.
What are your plans for the future?
From November 2019 I will be offering half day and one day mental health Awareness Training in addition to the 2 day Mental Health First Aider Courses.
In respect to GROOVE, once the awareness of Adult GROOVE is established I would like to be a Licensed Kids GROOVE Facilitator and offer Family GROOVE Classes.
What are you most looking forward to as an Area Partner with the Wellness Network?
Engaging with other wellness practitioners in the South Lincolnshire area and beyond. To support others in their journey with their business and health and wellbeing and to bring to the forefront of everyday life the need for an Holistic approach to mental and physical health and wellbeing.
